Functional specification

http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000035.html:

1.A functional specification describes how a product will work entirely from the user's perspective. It doesn't care how the thing is implemented. It talks about features. It specifies screens, menus, dialogs, and so on.

2.A technical specification describes the internal implementation of the program. It talks about data structures, relational database models, choice of programming languages and tools, algorithms, etc

Job motto

Our guiding principle can be summerized as follows:

"The idea was to let people know that first of all, we are going to get this done, and second of all, we're going to have fun doing it" Brian Valentine, Windows 2000 Leader

LUCA

I think there is something inspiring and "romantic" in LUCA, like missing a long lost friend:

"LUCA is...shorthand for Last Universal Common Ancestor, a single cell that lived perhaps 3 or 4 billion years ago, and from which all life has since evolved. Amazingly, every living thing we see around us (and many more that we can only see with the aid of a microscope) is related. As far as we can tell, life on Earth arose only once."

Ant infestation

There is an ant infestation in my house. It is in the kitchen. They are pretty small (2-3 mm) and dam resilient! It is hard to kill 'em. For now I am trying to keep the kitchen clean and put detergent barriers on their trails. A quick web search revealed a wonder powder which is boric acid. Will look it up in pharmacies. Got hold of Georgian Legend!

Finally I have the Georgian Legend DVD in my posession. Mind you, I had to order it via a french site (fnac.com) using google's translate tool. Critic:
Costumes, music and dances are nice, but let's face it, it could be "better". I mean, the tone is too "happy". I was expecting something more "heroic". Am I a chechen or what :P

A side note: Another "datlı" opened his blog. It is here: http://rlale.blogspot.com/

I am considering a migration to blogspot. You can add pictures and the overall look is prettier.

Tonsil infection

Caught tonsil infection. Doctor says it is "beta" (some kind of contagious microbe that spreads in little water droplets during exhalition).
Prescription:
- DEVAPEN 800 (injectable antibiotics): 5 days, every 12 hours an injection (a penicillin based drug)
- Wyeth Penadur L-A (another injectable antibiotics): Last one to be injected after DEVAPEN is over (benzatin penicillin G).

Thats 11 injections! My poor bum will become a sieve!

http://www.webster.com: Penicillin: "Any of several relatively nontoxic antibiotic acids of the general constitution C9_H11_N2_O4_SR"
http://www.cellsalive.com/pen.htm: "Penicillin kills bacteria by interfering with the ability to synthesize cell wall."

http://health.howstuffworks.com/question561.htm:

"...if you stop taking your medicine too early, your immune system may not be capable of killing off the stragglers, and any resistant bacteria left unscathed will be able to proliferate and spread to other people."

"...we actually peacefully co-exist with a wide variety of bacteria each day. For example, our intestines are lined with bacteria that break down foods that we can't digest. Whenever you take antibiotics, you kill off some of these beneficial bugs. Using antibiotics indiscriminately can blow away most of the bacteria normally in your body, opening the door for more sinister strains to establish themselves in their place."

Translation tool

I found google's translation tool (http://www.google.com/translate_t) very helpful. I even used it to order the Georgian Legend DVD from fnac.com which is in french.
